Where does the Westhaven Farmers Market go every November?
Not into hibernation exactly, and not into a straight countdown to spring either. The Wednesday market that's been setting up next to Paddle Dog since May runs on its own calendar, one that includes a real gap, a second location a few blocks away, and two separate organizers using the same lakefront for two different events in December. None of that shows up if you just glance at "May through October" and assume the neighborhood goes dark until Memorial Day.
The Wednesday Run Has an End Date, Not a Rain Check
The market itself is straightforward on paper: Wednesdays, 4 to 7 p.m., producer-only, running May through October. Vendors set up at Foundation Park, the patch of grass next to Paddle Dog at 1006 Westhaven Boulevard, selling produce, eggs, meat, baked goods and crafts sourced directly from the people who made them. That's the version of the market most residents know, because it's the one that's been running every week for months.
October is the last month on that schedule. Once the final Wednesday passes, the spot goes back to being an ordinary stretch of park until the calendar turns again. There's no rain-check Wednesday in November and no scaled-down version of the market in its place. The market's own season listing spans May 6 through December 16, but that range includes a real pause in the middle, not a continuous run.
Foundation Park or Magli Green, Depending Who You Ask
Search for the market and you'll get two different names for the same spot. The market's own listings and the state's Pick TN Products directory call it Foundation Park. Visit Franklin's community calendar calls the identical Wednesday market a Magli Green Park event. Both are pointing at the same lakefront setup next to Paddle Dog. Neither is wrong. It's just that Westhaven's Town Center lake has picked up more than one name across the organizations that reference it, and if you're relying on a single search result to find Wednesday's setup, you might land on a listing that names a park you don't recognize.
November Goes Quiet, On Purpose
Once the Wednesday market wraps for the year, the businesses that ring the lake don't follow it into hibernation. Paddle Dog keeps its own rhythm regardless of what's happening on the market's patch of grass, with paddleboard, canoe and kayak rentals on Westhaven Lake, river trips on the Harpeth and West Harpeth, bike rentals, live music, and a patio menu built around "gourmet hot dogs and grilled cheese." That's the anchor tenant at 1006 Westhaven Boulevard whether or not there's a vendor tent up next door, and it's the same patio where the neighborhood's December event will start its lap around the lake.
December Splits Into Two Different Events, Not One
This is where the calendar gets interesting, because December isn't one holiday market. It's two, run by two different organizers, at two different Front Street addresses.
The Westhaven Farmers Market brings its own producer-only format back for three dates:
- December 3
- December 10
- December 17
Same format, same vendors, just moved from a Wednesday evening in summer to a holiday-week pop-up, still at Foundation Park next to Paddle Dog.
Separately, the Franklin Makers Market runs its own Holiday Market at 157 Front Street, on the other side of the lake from Paddle Dog. This one is free, family-friendly and built around handcrafted goods rather than produce, running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It's also the one with the Santa Strut, a lap around the lake that starts with paddlers gathering at the Paddle Dog patio at 1:45 p.m. before setting off at 2, dogs welcome as long as you've got a plan for them once the boats hit the water. The Santa Paddle portion raises money for Friends of Williamson County Animal Center and is presented by Hiller Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical.
Two markets, two addresses, two purposes, both landing in the same three-week window at the end of the year. If you only know about one of them, you're only getting half of Westhaven's December.
The Village Center Doesn't Take the Season Off
None of this leaves the Village Center empty in the gap. Coal Town Pizza & Public House, at 187 Front Street on the Town Center lake, keeps its normal hours through every part of this calendar, pizza on one side of the building and a full bar and modern American menu on the other, garage doors open to Magli Green when the weather allows. Puckett's Grocery and Burger Republic hold down the restaurant end of Front Street. Scout's Pub and High Brow Coffee + Tea round out the daily rotation, the kind of spots that don't depend on a market being set up outside to justify staying open.
That's the actual shape of Westhaven's calendar. The Wednesday market has a hard stop in October and a real gap in November. December brings back two different events with two different missions at two different spots on the same lake. And through all of it, the storefronts that make the Village Center feel like a village keep their doors open on the same schedule they've always kept, whether or not there's a vendor tent or a Santa hat anywhere in sight.
If you're trying to keep straight which weekend belongs to which market, or when the next Wednesday pop-up actually lands, The Reed Collective tracks the Village Center's calendar the way we track everything else in this neighborhood. Reach out anytime you want the current schedule instead of two conflicting search results.
